WHAT ARE OUR PLANS?

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Diary

Because plan is necessity. Protože bez plánu by to prostě nešlo. When we were deciding if we stay or not, we were sure, that we need plan, because there is just way too much in risk. Because we both love travelling, but we have never had the time/money/courage to travel for longer time, we decided to fulfill this our adventurous dream. Plan has begun to form. We will stay in Brighton till the end of February. One of the reason is to save enough money for 3 months of travelling, the second one is that we have fallen in love with Brighton and saying goodbye was just not an option. We love Brno, but to live abroad, in beautiful town surrounded by sea? To have the chance to sit on the beach after work and just listen the sounds of seagulls and waves? That is just amazing. Specially for me, […]

HOW WE FOUND OUR HOME

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Diary

It is interesting how one simple decision can mean much more than you could ever imagine at that moment. When I arrived in England, I had exactly 3 days to find an accommodation. Limited by looking for something cheap, for 6 months and chance of Stephan´s visit, I took first room, that looked quite alright. I reaaaally regret that decision, because it totally ruined beginning of my Erasmus, when you should get to know people, new city and all those exciting new things. Not to be scared to go out of your room, because of aggressive dog behind them, whose owner spends at home like 4 hours per day. That led to shits and pee all over the fancy english carpets. And that lead to unpleasant smell, that the owner wanted to […]

TRIP TO BOURNEMOUTH

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Diary

We decided to reward our selves and make an autumn trip to relax from all the work. We packed socks to our backpack and now we are ready to go! As a destination we chose Bournemouth and by coincidence there is New Forest Nation Park on our way. It is beautiful park. Perfect for family day trips, picnics and many other activities. Wild deers, pigs and horses everywhere are huge attraction not only to us. Well to the moment, when we are followed by screaming pregnant mare everywhere we go. After fifth turn she is luckily bored of us. Sbalili jsme ponožky do batůžku a vyrazili na cestu. Zamířili jsme do Bournemouthu a shodou náhod máme nádherný rovnou po trase vlaku Národní park New Forest.

DAY 12 & 13 : EDINBURGH

DAY THREE: Luck is gone and we are waking up to rainy weather. We are Packing our raincoats and heading off to the city, hoping that it will change very soon. Even that the weather is shity the city is crowded and find place to sit somewhere in cafe shop is almost impossible. Maybe it is better, because we don´t have any excuse to We are visiting famous Greyfriars kirkyard. There is a grave of Thomas Riddle and it is said, that it was an inspiration from lord Voldemord even dough that the spelling is different. Štěstí nás opouští a my se probouzíme do deštivého rána.

DAY 10 & 11: EDINBURGH

Our last stop Edinburgh. The city, that we were mostly looking for. Firstly we wanted to spend only 2 nights here and then stop somewhere in the middle for a day on our way to Brighton. After realizing that it is bank holiday this weekend so nowhere will allow us to book only one night and almost every campsite, hostel is fully booked, we decided to extend our stay in Edinburgh despite the fact that will cost us a lot of money. So eventually we stayed there for 5 days. I have decided to not write everything from the beginning of the day till the end of it, otherwise it would be too long for anyone to read haha.

D A Y 1   I S L E  O F  S K Y E ⤖ I N V E R N E S S We are saying goodbye to our beloved Isle of Skye and getting on the bus to Kyle of Lochalsh. By coincidence we are having the same driver as we had on our way to Isle of Skye. The train station in Kyle of Lochalsh looks more like a place somewhere in Scandinavia than in Scotland. Now there is 3 hour way to Inverness. At least we have the time to find some camp site otherwise we are gonna be homeless. Maybe it might be good also look for the accommodation in Edinburgh. Well we have chosen August when whole Scotland is in high season and almost everything is full. Ráno se loučíme s naším milovaným Isle of Skye a vyjíždíme autobusem směr Kyle of Lochals. Shodou […]

DAY 7: ISLE OF SKYE 2/2

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Diary

Around seven o´clock I am waking up as usually because of the need to go to the toilet, that I have been trying to postpone almost two hours already. Unfortunately I am also waking up Stephan, who is really happy about it. Specially when I am opening the tent and in a second there is huge flock of midges inside. Midges are Scottish beasts, which are super small, but can cause big problems. We read about them before our trip in guidebook, where the suggested to buy really strong repellent and head net. We could´t imagine that it can be that bad, so we bought only repellent. Well, our mistake. Midgets are most active in the morning and they can´t handle wind. That is also why we are meeting them face to face just now, the third day. Today is very clear, sunny day, no wind at all. They are […]

DAY 6: ISLE OF SKYE 1/2

Our first day on Isle of Skye. We are glad that our tent survived the night, even though it didn´t look like it will. The weather is not very beautiful. Because of our time and transport limit we have to choose what will we visit from all the beauty that Isle of Skye offers. We are deciding to buy one day ticket and go to see the Portree. Portree is superbeautiful little seaport and on the way to Durham Castle. Náš první den na Isle of Skye. Venku to není zrovna největší nádhera. Kvůli našemu časovému a transportnímu limitu si musíme vybrat, co z té všechny krásy, kterou Isle of Skye nabízí, navštívíme.

DAY 5: FORT WILLIAM ↠ ISLE OF SKYE

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Diary

Today is in the spirit of moving from Fort William to the Isle of Skye. We have to take train from Fort William to Mallaig, then ferry to Armadale and from Armadale bus to small village called Sligachan. We have chosen Sligachan as our base camp because of its perfect location. It is situated in the middle of Isle of Skye so for exploring the island it is very useful. Unfortunately we have only 3 days there, even dough we know that for Isle of Skye would not even week be enough. Because the rout is very complicated and at the end you probably want everything to connect on each other, there are only 2 options how to plan it. We wanted to use the time and stop at the well known Glenn Finnan viaduct, that was for example in Harry Potter movies. After waking up to the heavy rain […]

DAY 4: FORT WILLIAM 2/2

So waking up to a beautiful morning at the foot of the mountain is not happening. Our alarm clock are drops of the rain and even more rain. When there is little gap we are finding a bench underneath the trees, so we are little bit protected from the rain and we can have a breakfast at least. During our breakfast we are observing the mountains and we can see a few brave early birds on the trail leading up to Ben Nevis. We are not that optimistic anymore and trying to find other plan for our day. At the end we are deciding that we are still gonna try it , even though that we are still not really sure about that. So after very healthy breakfast (canned sausages) we are packing our backpack: salami, granola bar, headlamp – in a case we would get lost, water. Takže buzení […]
