Day 3
Luck is gone and we are waking up to rainy weather. We are packing our raincoats and heading off to the city hoping that it will change very soon. Even that the weather is shity the city is crowded and to find a place to sit somewhere in a coffee shop is almost impossible. Maybe it is better because nothing makes us just sit in cafes.
We are visiting the famous Greyfriars kirkyard. There is a grave of Thomas Riddle and it is said that it was an inspiration for Lord Voldemort even though the spelling is different.

We are also touching the statue of Bobby, the dog for better luck. Bobby was a guardian dog of the graveyard and the fairytale about him is very popular in Scotland.

When we were walking around the city for the first time we noticed big sign JAN KOUDELKA – MAKING OF LANDSCAPE. Next day we wanted to go, but it was unfortunately closed. So today is the day. The exhibition is a part of the Art Festival and it displays more than 20 meters of photographs capturing the relationship between mankind and his natural environment. Some of those photos make us proud, some of them not really.

We fell in love with pub Whistle Barber Shop not just because it was really close to every show we chose but also cider and the music is really good here. And! Pub together with barbershop? Isn’t it just great? 😀 Today we testing their kitchen skills for the first time. The result is good. Beginning of the evening, we are leaving for exploring the scene of evening basking musicians and after that, we are heading to Liquid room to stand in a queue for a show.

Day 4
Today is our last proper day both in Edinburgh and of the whole Scotland trip. We have decided to wake up really early, buy coffee to go and make a breakfast picnic at Calton Hill. Sun is gently touching our face and we are enjoying a beautiful view of Edinburgh.

At the same time, we agreed that we will also focus on the Art festival today. That plays to our card very well, because one of the exhibition is in a mini gallery on the hill. We also want to see some play and we have plenty of options. In the end, we and the other fifteen people are choosing venue number 444. It is their last show and we were their biggest audience. We were in the city centre yesterday when jet fighters flew over the city and then firework started. Today we don’t want to miss it so we are going to our favourite hill to have the best view.

The hill is occupied, but there are still some spots that are providing a little bit of privacy. We are finding one with really nice calm music in the background coming from the musicians next to us. The sun is down, fireworks finished, but jet fighters nowhere. After some research, we are sorry to hear that it is not gonna happen today.

Last plan for our whole trip is a party called Madchester. Songs from famous interprets like Joy Division, New Order, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, The Strokes and others. We saw poster 2 days ago in Liquid Room and we thought that is a play. To find it took us 3 circles around the Liquid Room, but it was worth it. At 11 we are entering the club with other 8 inpatients. In an hour the club is fully full. We are dancing, singing – both not very good, but we don’t really care. Maybe getting up tomorrow will be a bit hard, but now we are really happy.
